Cllr Elias Mattu was aged 58 and married to Asha. They have three grown up children – sons Anthony and Ishmael and daughter Jessica.

He was Mayor of Wolverhampton City from 2017 - 2018 and was previously a senior cabinet member as well as serving on numerous other committees and external bodies.

Late Cllr Elias Mattu, who has represented the city’s Graiseley Ward for 17 years, intends to make recognising volunteers his theme for his year in office.

He said: “I am delighted to be nominated to become Mayor of the City of Wolverhampton for 2017 - 2018. It will be a great honour and a privilege to serve this great city.

”My theme for the year is recognising the value of volunteering.”

Charities and volunteers are doing tremendous work in our city helping the most needy and vulnerable people.

“This is a good time to represent the City of Wolverhampton”

We sadly lost Cllr Elias Mattu in 2018,
Cllr Elias Mattu was a man of the people, He was very well respected, and loved by everyone. We never heard Elias ever raise his voice, he was a gentle person.

Cllr Elias Mattu was well respected by everyone, Cllr Elias Mattu went above and beyond to help the people of Wolverhampton City.

Elias Mattu Foundation will keep his Legacy going by helping all communities and continue to carry his great work forward.
